Brian Slobe has more than ten years of experience as a wildlife filmmaker and photographer. His assignments have taken him to Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Western U.S. with TV production companies such as the Discovery Channel, the BBC, National Geographic, and Animal Planet, and conservation organizations such as Environmental Defense and National Wildlife Federation.

Slobe’s still photography has been featured in numerous print and online publications, including the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Bradt Travel Guides and Discovery.com, and are on permanent display at the Cape of Good Hope and Boulder’s Beach- two national parks in South Africa.

Locally, he is a regular exhibitor at The Wildlife Experience Museum in Parker, CO. Eight of his images were selected as finalists and semi-finalists in the BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest – one of the most prestigious wildlife photo competitions in the world. While not chasing wildlife, Brian is an 8th grade science teacher at Monarch K-8 in Louisville, Colorado. Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1994 where he graduated with honors, as well as spent a semester at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia, in 1993.

Debbie F. Slobe has more than 10 years of media experience writing and editing for print, web and radio/TV broadcast, web site creation, public relations and communications strategy development. From 1993 to 2000, she worked in new media development and web content management for Knight-Ridder Information Design Lab, The Guardian newspaper of London, Wired UK magazine and Excite@Home Network, as well as freelanced dozens of articles for print and online publications on international travel and environmental conservation.

In 2000, she moved to Cape Town, South Africa to freelance write full time. While there, she volunteered for an international effort to rescue South African penguins following a massive oil spill. She returned to the U.S. in 2001 with a new career focus on wildlife conservation. From 2001 – 2002, she served as a public information specialist for the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Rocky Mountain National Park Associates. In 2002, she joined the Playa Lakes Joint Venture as Communications Team Leader where she continues to work today. There she led the development of the PLJV’s first communications and education programs, including the PLJV web site, Playa Post e-newsletter, Playa Country radio series and film “The Playas – Reflections of Life on the Plains.” Debbie earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication in 1994 from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she graduated with honors, as well as spent a semester studying media, Middle East politics and Hebrew at the University of Jerusalem, Israel, in 1993.
